With your financial help we are able to provide
funding to support various local programs and services throughout our community.
People contribute to the United Way because they know that one gift will go a
long way.
Member
Agency Allocations
Each year, our Community Review Panels,
consisting of volunteers throughout the county, review all of our Member
Agencies' programs and services. This comprehensive review results in funding
recommendations to the United Way Board. For a list of agencies funded by
Northumberland United Way, and a breakdown of allocations, please see the "Need
Help" section of this website.
Grant Streams:
COMMUNITY IMPACT GRANTS
-
Grants with a specific time period and focus
- Will
not require annualized funding from United Way
NEW INITIATIVES
-
A new program or service that will address a health or human service need that
is not currently being met within the County
-
Will be ongoing and requiring sustainable funding
-
Collaborative in nature, have funding partners, a commitment of its own
resources and funding
-
Provide a thorough evaluation following the first year of completion and be
willing to meet with the Community Investment Committee to discuss
-
Can be applied for in two consecutive years with possible exceptions for
additional funds, if required
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND TECHNOLOGY
-
Limited to Member Agencies of United Way
-
Funding provided for professional development, strategic planning,
facilitation, etc.

Capital requests for technology assistance
Grant Criteria
- Must address a health or human service need,
concern, circumstance, or activity not already adequately addressed or developed
in the community and identified as one or more of Northumberland United Way's
funding priorities.
FUNDING PRIORITIES ARE:

Where possible, must include collaborative
partnerships in the project's formation. Must build on community strengths and
assets, utilizing community skills, knowledge, and experience, when appropriate.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

The applicant must provide programs and/or services to the local communities
in the geographic area of Northumberland County.

The applicant may be community-based, volunteer-driven, charitable or
not-for-profit organization.

Must provide services and/or programs of a health and human service nature
which do not unnecessarily duplicate existing services and /or programs.

Applicant organizations should demonstrate commitment to the project through
the investment of their own funds and resources.

A successful applicant must complete United Way's reporting procedures, as
requested, including a final report at the end of the grant period to verify
the funds were used for the purpose they were approved and to provide
statistical data and expected results for the program/project.

A successful applicant must recognize United Way's support for the
program/service and promote United Way to its membership and the public as a
supporter of the organization.
NOT-ELIGIBLE FOR FUNDING:
Major capital costs, renovation costs, current
operational expenses, deficits, for-profit activities, fundraising events,
political activities and retroactive requests

Deadline - June 1st,
September 1st, November 1st
Process - Once application has been accepted and
deemed complete, it will be forwarded to the Grants Committee for review.
Timeline is approximately 60 days from the first of the month the grant is
received. Grants will be submitted to the Board of Directors for approval.
